Green Hydrogen: World Power-to-X Summit Kicks off in Marrakech

The third edition of the World Power-to-X Summit, the must-attend event for renewable energy stakeholders operating in the production of green hydrogen and its applications, kicked off on September 19 in Marrakech.

Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the aegis of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, this edition is organized by the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), the GreenH2 Cluster, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).

The Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) underlined that the World Power-to-X Summit is a leading platform for promoting regional and international dialogue on the opportunities and challenges of the industrial, logistical, and technological value chain of green hydrogen and its applications, underlining that the holding of this third edition is particularly important in light of the current global energy crisis, exacerbated by rapid geopolitical tensions and reorganizations.

At the national level, this summit is of great importance thanks to the impetus of His Majesty the King, who has given His High Directives to deploy an operational and incentivizing “Morocco Offer” for the green hydrogen initiative. This initiative aims to position Morocco as a regional leader and African hub in the hydrogen field, drawing on its natural assets, national strategy, and solid international partnerships.

According to the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN),  this year’s edition, building on the success of its previous edition, which brought together over 500 participants, 90 speakers representing 31 countries in nine panels, and three bilateral meetings, is expected to bring together 1,000 participants, 170 expert speakers, and hold 35 sessions, and five side events.

This year’s summit offers a comprehensive program, including plenary sessions, parallel sessions, and unique and enriching masterclasses which will deepen understanding of the various aspects of the power-to-x value chain, such as generation, conversion, storage, distribution, and utilization, without neglecting regulatory, financial, and infrastructure aspects.

The exhibition aspect will also be reinforced, with key players shedding light on the latest innovations and solutions in the field of green energy. Stimulating networking sessions will facilitate the creation of relationships with industry experts and influential decision-makers.
