HoG Aziz Akhannouch Holds Talks with Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez

Head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, held a telephone conversation on, November 28, with Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez on relations uniting the two countries.

Following these talks, the Spanish Prime Minister stated that the conversation with Akhannouch focused on friendship and bilateral relations. 

“We agreed on the importance of the friendship uniting Spain and Morocco,” affirmed the Spanish official, adding that “for this reason, we want to push forward the bilateral agenda already agreed upon and explore the new opportunities offered by this renewed relationship.”

Sánchez also stressed that the two parties will work to promote closer relations between Morocco and the European Union (EU).

For his part, Akhannouch expressed his congratulations to Sanchez on his re-election as head of the Spanish government and wished him success in achieving further progress and prosperity for the friendly Spanish people.

The Moroccan official added that his talks with Sanchez focused on issues of common interest, noting that these “talks were also an opportunity to express our country’s determination, under the Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to strengthen the new phase of the strategic partnership between Morocco and Spain, based on the foundations of good neighborliness, mutual trust and permanent, constructive dialogue.”

The re-elected Spanish Prime Minister unveiled the members of his new government on November 20, which comprises 22 ministries, similar to the previous government, with 12 women ministers.

It should be recalled that His Majesty King Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to Pedro Sánchez, on the occasion of his investiture as Prime Minister of the Spanish Government.

In His message, His Majesty the King extended to the Spanish official His heartfelt congratulations and sincere wishes for further success and prosperity in achieving the aspirations of the friendly Spanish people.
