Karima Benyaich: Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Region, Major Regional Economic Hub

Morocco’s Ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, revealed on April 16 in Madrid, that the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab has become a major regional economic hub, linking Morocco to the rest of Africa and offering considerable investment opportunities both for Moroccan and foreign economic operators.

During an economic forum focused on the investment opportunities offered by Morocco’s southern provinces, Benyaich affirmed that the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab is “one of the most dynamic regions in Morocco, thanks to the development model of the southern provinces, launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2015”, which has enabled the implementation of various structuring programs to support the development of the region in several areas.

“Today, we must take advantage of these assets and the advantages offered by this region, as well as the historical momentum in relations between Morocco and Spain, to support Spanish investors in the Kingdom in a win-win spirit,” emphasized Benyaich.

The Moroccan official also shed light on the several “realistic and constructive” initiatives launched by Morocco under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King to promote South-South cooperation, including the launch, in November 2023, of the Atlantic Initiative in favor of the development of the countries of the Atlantic and those of the Sahel.

This forum, organized at the initiative of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Moroccan Embassy in Spain, saw the presence of over a hundred investors and large Spanish companies from various sectors of activity.

The interventions also focused on the presentation of the new port of Dakhla Atlantique and investment opportunities in the sectors of trade, tourism, industry, and aquaculture in the region.
