ONMT, Wego Partner Up to Promote Tourism in Morocco

Wego, the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), announced, on August 1, a strategic partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) to promote Morocco as an attractive tourist destination to travelers from all over the world.

This partnership will enable Wego’s users to benefit from immersive virtual experiences, organized itineraries, and personalized suggestions that meet their unique preferences to explore the hidden gems of Morocco, a country rich in history, culture, nature, and gastronomy.

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and Wego’s partnership aims to further support the recovery of the Moroccan tourism industry, which has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and boost its appeal as a dynamic and diversified travel destination.

On this occasion, Wego’s Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director for the MENA region and India, Mamoum Hmedan, stated that “we are delighted to partner with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), which shares our vision of inspiring and captivating travelers from all over the world, drawing them to the wonders of Morocco.”

Hmedan underlined that the Kingdom is one of the most searched destinations on the Wego platform, with an impressive 39% increase in searches compared to the same period last year, with over 2 million searches recorded to date.

“We look forward to establishing a lasting relationship with ONMT and contributing to the recovery of the Moroccan tourism sector,” added Wego’s Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director for the MENA region and India.

In a press release, Wego also highlighted Morocco’s tourism assets and the diverse experiences that cater to all types of travelers, establishing Morocco as an ideal summer destination.

“For history and culture enthusiasts, exploring the ancient medinas of cities like Marrakech and Fez is a must,” mentioned the press release, shedding light on “bustling souks, stunning architectural masterpieces, and historic sites.”

The press release also recommended that nature lovers embark on unforgettable journeys to the Sahara desert, “where they can discover the magic of camel trekking, spend a night under the starry desert sky, and witness fascinating sunsets over the golden dunes.”

In addition, Wego highlighted coastal towns such as Essaouira and Agadir as a paradise for beach lovers, offering pristine sandy beaches, water sports activities, and delicious seafood.

The release encourages travelers to visit the official Moroccan tourism website managed by the ONMT, where they can find more information on destinations, experiences, travel ideas, and practical recommendations for organizing their holiday in Morocco.
