His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him, inaugurated, Monday, a Proximity Medical Center (PMC) by Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, in the new town of Errahma, in Casablanca’s Dar Bouazza Commune, for an overall investment of 73 million dirhams.
His Majesty the King visited, on this occasion, multiple facilities of this solidarity project, which proves His Majesty’s commitment to improving medical services for the benefit of citizens, enhancing healthcare for populations in vulnerable situations, and ensuring a comprehensive, sustainable, and integrated human development.
The establishment of this center is in line with the Sovereign’s efforts to promote the access of the underprivileged to basic, local, and quality healthcare, and to ensure periodic and regular medical follow-up for people who require specialized consultations.
The new Proximity Medical Center (PMC), which will benefit approximately 60 thousand people annually, will alleviate the pressure on hospitals in the region, and will also spare low-income patients from long, expensive trips.
As an intermediary structure between the network of basic healthcare establishments (levels 1 and 2) and the hospital network, the Proximity Medical Center (PMC) – Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity serves a population of over 300,000 inhabitants in Errahma and the surrounding areas, consequently ensuring greater health complementarity in the at the regional level.
The new center includes a hub of medical emergencies in proximity to emergency doctors who will ensure the on-call, in particular in the shock, examination, care, observation, and plaster rooms.
It also includes a specialized medical consultation unit (cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, pediatrics, gynecology, ophthalmology), an orthopedics and functional rehabilitation unit, a medico-technical pole with an operating room (a general surgery room and another for obstetrical surgery), as well as a recovery room.
The Proximity Medical Center (PMC) also houses a mother-child health center with a technical delivery unit (4 delivery rooms and a room for the care of newborns) and examination, care, vaccination, and ultrasound rooms.
Equipped with the latest generation equipment, the center also includes an oral care unit, a medical imaging unit (radiology, mammography, ultrasound, panoramic), a medical analysis laboratory, a hospitalization and a sterilization unit (13 double rooms), a pharmacy, an awareness room, a kitchen, and a morgue. The new hospital is also equipped with an ambulance to ensure the medical transport of patients.
Similar to those inaugurated by the Sovereign in El Youssoufia district in Rabat, Sidi Moumen in Casablanca, and those in Temara and Tangier in 2022, the new Proximity Medical Center in the town of Errahma is part of a comprehensive program led by Mohammed 5 Foundation for Solidarity aimed at supporting the national health sector.
This project focuses in particular on strengthening the existing healthcare services, establishing a local healthcare network accessible to the population, and integrating a complementary social approach into the mechanisms for supporting patients.
This project will eventually pave way for the creation of 12 local medical centers, including 3 in Casablanca (Sidi Moumen, the new town of Errahma, and Hay Hassani), 2 in Fez, 2 in Tangier, and 1 each in Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat, Salé and Temara.
This project is the fruit of a partnership between Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, and the Provincial Council of Nouaceur.
It reinforces the numerous actions carried out by the Foundation in the medical and humanitarian fields and demonstrates the Foundation’s multi-faceted and diversified commitment to the well-being and prosperity of the poor.
