Ryad Mezzour, Swiss Official Examine Ways to Strengthen Economic Exchanges

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, held talks, on March 4 in Bern, with the Swiss Federal Councilor in charge of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, Guy Parmelin, on ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, Parmelin praised “the positive results” of economic cooperation between Morocco and Switzerland, highlighting “the sustained pace” of the increase in bilateral trade between the two countries. 

According to the Swiss Federal Councilor, exchanges between the two countries are “rather balanced and reflect the great diversity of the Moroccan economy”.

For his part, Mezzour shed light on the existing integration between the Moroccan and Swiss economic fabrics, particularly in terms of innovation and competitiveness, noting that today, more than 40 Swiss companies operate in Morocco in various sectors such as agri-food and aeronautics.

In the same context, the Moroccan minister affirmed that economic relations between the two countries aim to strengthen complementarity in terms of innovation, within the framework of relations between companies and innovation centers, in order to increase the added value of Moroccan production.

The two parties also agreed that the textile sector can be a driving force to boost economic cooperation and take advantage of the solid relations between the stakeholders of the two countries.
