World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings: IMF Advisor Praises Morocco’s Successful Organization

The Advisor of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Alex Segura, commended, on October 10 in Marrakech, Morocco’s impressive and excellent organization of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank (WB) Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In a statement to Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) on the sidelines of the event, Segura praised “Morocco’s logistical and organizational work and the choice of themes addressed by the participants”, adding that the Kingdom has set up a scientific committee to reflect on the issues which will be addressed at this global meeting.

The IMF official pointed out that Morocco has demonstrated “enormous intellectual capacity”, recalling the publication of the book “Morocco’s Quest for Stronger and Inclusive Growth”, by the World Bank (WB).

The official also noted that the World Bank (WB) had engaged in “a constructive dialogue, based on trust”, with the Moroccan authorities to organize this international event, praising Morocco’s expertise as a country with “strong and solid institutions”. 

Segura also stressed that Morocco had demonstrated leadership in international development, emphasizing the importance of holding these Annual Meetings in Morocco, after 50 years since the last time these meetings were held on African soil. 

Participants from around the world in the Annual meeting of the World Bank (WB) Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Marrakech (October 9-15) will spend a week examining the current major issues, including financing policies, economic growth, and climate change.

This major international event is an opportunity for economic and financial decision-makers to carefully examine the advances and progress that Morocco achieved under the Enlightened Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in several fields.
