Director General (DG) of Senegal’s High Authority of Waqf (HAW), Racine Ba, stated that his country is keen to draw inspiration from the Moroccan model for agricultural waqf.
In an interview with the Senegalese Press Agency (APS), Ba stated that the Authority “would like to draw inspiration from the Moroccan model in terms of agricultural waqf,” adding that since agriculture is an “important sector for our country,” the High Authority of Waqf (HAW) aims to collaborate with Morocco in this field.
Ba recalled that a delegation from the High Authority of Waqf (HAW) had previously “visited the Kingdom, whose model is closer to ours.”
The Senegalese official noted that other partnerships have been sealed with other countries for the development of waqf in Senegal, adding that “since 2018, partnerships have been forged with mainly Gulf countries with which Senegal enjoys close relations, such as the UAE.”
HAW’s Director General also recalled that in December 2022, 19 imams had visited the UAE’s High Waqf Authority for training and awareness-raising sessions on waqf to help promote waqf in Senegal.
“We are looking forward to partnerships with Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, where good office missions have been carried out,” emphasized the Senegalese official.
