Local authorities and the relevant departments have begun in the rural commune of Talat N’Yaaqoub, in the province of Al Haouz, the demolition of houses damaged by the earthquake that struck the Kingdom on September 8 as well as the removal of rubble and debris, an essential step prior to the reconstruction phase.
Supervised by the local authorities as part of their efforts to accelerate reconstruction in the areas affected by the earthquake, this operation is being carried out steadily in the commune of Talat N’Yaaqoub, as well as in the douars of Amegdoul and Doubouche.
Demolition work on totally or partially damaged buildings is ongoing in these three areas based on a report issued by the relevant commissions, as are operations to remove rubble and debris using machinery designed to ensure the successful completion of this operation.
The local authorities are tirelessly working to ensure the success of the various stages required for the start of the reconstruction phase and facilitate all the related procedures, while enabling residents to obtain permits to rebuild and providing them with technical assistance, notably through architectural plans that meet the specific features and characteristics of the region.
Families severely affected by the earthquake will be able to rebuild their homes thanks to the financial aid allocated for this purpose in the execution of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The first financial aid payment for rebuilding collapsed homes (MAD 20,000) has been successfully processed.
Similarly, local authorities and the different relevant departments and parties are pursuing their efforts at a balanced pace to enable the affected population whose houses have totally or partially collapsed to benefit from financial aid and all the assistance related to the reconstruction operation.
Local authorities and other actors are working tirelessly to address the complaints, requests, and demands of the population affected by the earthquake, in application of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
In a statement to Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), Technician at the Ministry of Equipment’s Regional Directorate in Al Haouz, Hassan Zerrouk, explained that the Directorate, in full coordination with the local authorities, actively participated in the rubble and debris removal operation in the province’s douars and communes.
Zerrouk also added that the Regional Department had mobilized considerable human, logistical, and technical resources to carry out the demolition operation, with the aim of creating the right conditions for the population concerned to initiate the reconstruction phase.
In similar statements, residents of Douar Doubouche praised the ongoing efforts made by the local authorities and other actors to support the affected population in undertaking all the necessary steps to receive financial aid or to complete the operations and procedures related to the demolition and reconstruction operation.
The residents also expressed their deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the high level of care and attention that the Sovereign has always attached to the earthquake-affected populations.
It should be recalled that, in application of the High Royal Instructions, the government is granting direct financial aid of MAD 140,000 for totally collapsed buildings and MAD 80,000 to cover rehabilitation work on partially collapsed buildings.
