The United States congratulated Morocco on its election, on January 10 in Geneva, to the presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
“A heartfelt congratulations to Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Omar Zniber on his election as the President of UNHRC in 2024,” noted the United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Ambassador Michèle Taylor on the X network (formerly Twitter).
In this post, the American representative expressed her country’s commitment to continuing to work with Morocco to promote human rights around the world.
“We are excited to partner in our mutual endeavor to strengthen human rights worldwide,” added Taylor, affirming that through collaboration, universal respect and equality will be achieved.
It should be recalled that of the 49 UNHRC members, 30 supported Morocco’s candidacy, compared to that of South Africa, which received only 17 votes.
