Al Haouz Earthquake: Launch of Large-Scale Operation to Protect Imi’N’Dounit Population from Cold Wave

A large-scale operation was launched on October 22 to protect the populations of Imi’N’Dounit commune (Chichaoua province) from the cold wave currently sweeping through this mountainous area, which was the most affected by the earthquake of September 8.

Carried out by Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in collaboration with the provincial and local authorities and the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), this operation is part of a series of initiatives launched in several communes in Chichaoua to assist the targeted populations and help them overcome the difficulties imposed by the bad weather in the region.

This humanitarian and solidarity initiative is in line with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to assist the populations affected by the earthquake.

The initiative also testifies to His Majesty the King’s approach to promote a genuine policy of proximity to citizens, based on efficiency, speed, and attentiveness to their needs and expectations, particularly in these exceptional circumstances.

In the villages of “Tourar” and “Igr N’Tii”, this operation includes the distribution, installation, and securing of waterproof tents that would withstand harsh weather conditions, in addition to the distribution of essential food supplies to mitigate the populations’ suffering and enable them to better protect themselves against the cold.

As part of its ongoing support for earthquake-affected populations, Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has mobilized all logistical and human resources to organize a medical caravan in the area, providing consultations, medicine, and psychological support sessions by staff from Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.

In a statement to the press, the Foundation’s Head of Project Development, Sabir Abderrahmane, affirmed that all the relevant parties are committed, per the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to providing the necessary aid and assistance to the populations concerned.

“We are here today in an effort to assist the douar’s population, notably through the distribution of food items and waterproof tents in anticipation of the rainy weather, in addition to medical assistance and psychological support,” explained Abderrahmane.

For their part, beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction with the efforts of all the relevant authorities to provide assistance, since the very first moments following the earthquake.

The beneficiaries also extended their immense gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for His special attention and care.
