Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency: Summer Camp Kicks off with Participation of Fifty Maqdessi Children

Fifty children from Al-Quds are participating in the 14th summer camp of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, held in Morocco between August 10 and 26 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of al-Quds Committee.

His Majesty the King named this edition of the summer camp “The Green March”, which is organized by Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication in several Moroccan cities, including Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Asilah, Tetouan, M’diq, and Chefchaouen.

Similar to previous editions, the Agency, and its partners developed a rich program for this year’s edition, including a spacious entertainment and leisure area, with tourist and educational trips, enabling Palestinian children to discover Morocco’s history, geography, authenticity, and cultural depth.

The Maqdessi children will also visit development projects in the Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima regions, which contributed to the Kingdom’s journey towards development under the Wise Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

This year’s edition, held under the theme “For the Dissemination of the Values of Unity and Solidarity,” will be inaugurated with interactive workshops using modern means and technologies to complement the lessons that participants received during the preparatory camp in Al-Quds, drawing inspiration from the values and meanings of the epic of the glorious Green March, and its initiator, the late His Majesty King Hassan II.

On this occasion, the Coordinator of Civil Initiatives for the Agency’s Human Development Program in Al-Quds, Bachar Abu Chamsiya, emphasized that the summer camp was honored by His Majesty the King, as it was named “The Green March”, which is a grand historic march for the liberation of the Moroccan Sahara by the late His Majesty King Hassan II, noting that this name is of high significance reflecting that the Holy City and Palestine are a priority cause for Morocco alongside the subject the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.

Abu Chamsiya stated that during this edition, the Maqdessi children will showcase the Palestinian heritage in Moroccan cities through folk songs, dances, and cultural and artistic episodes expressing their attachment to the land.

In a similar context, Abu Chamsiya, who is also the director of this year’s edition, added that since Morocco is a country renowned for its football culture, the camp included among its activities several friendly matches against Moroccan teams, in addition to special basketball matches for girls.

Artistic and sporting competitions are launched in parallel with the daily program, which includes exchange visits with their peers among Moroccan children taking part in the summer vacation camp organized, during the same period, in Tangier’s Diplomatic Forest.

The Palestinian children will also perform a special song on the glorious Youth Day, on August  21, as a symbol of appreciation, thanks, and gratitude from these children and their families to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people.

The summer camp program, sponsored by Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, is part of the social and educational activities of the Agency’s “Children for Al-Quds” club. This year, the program features the launch of a summer school program in the Holy City for 3.000 children in four schools and nine centers, in addition to a football tournament with the participation of 17 clubs from Al-Quds.
