Riyadh 2023 World Combat Games: Moroccan Karate Selection Crowned Champion

The Moroccan Karate selection was crowned champion of the Riyadh 2023 World Combat Games (October 19-21).

With six medals, including two gold, one silver, and three bronze, Morocco shone at this international competition after finishing top of the overall medals ranking, ahead of Saudi Arabia (four medals) and Algeria (three medals).

The Kingdom’s two gold medals were snatched in the fighting events (Kumite), by world champion Mehdi Sriti (-84 kg category), and world champion Jina Abdelaali (-60 kg category), whereas the silver medal went to World champion Maroua Daghri (+68 kg/Women’s Kumite).

The bronze medals were collected by champion Salaheddine Mansouri in the men’s individual kata event, and kumite champions Said Abaya (-67 kg category), and Hiba Falaoui (-50 kg category).

The Riyadh 2023 World Combat Games witnessed the participation of Karate teams from several countries, notably Egypt, Greece, Colombia, Belgium, Turkey, Hong Kong, and Montenegro.
